I don't know who created Etsy, but I am so excited about it. Etsy.com is a fairly new website (I think) just for handmade things. It's a new culture of sorts. In today's economic times, it is a way for crafters, suppliers and creators to thrive. I love the concept. I love the spirit of it. I love the whole thing. Etsy truly is a gift. You know, it's funny. I have five children. If you met me on the street, you probably wouldn't say that I have it all together (because I don't) but I am passionate about some things. I am passionate about God. I am passionate about marriage....and not just mine, but the lasting covenant of marriage and maintaining the "spark" of marriage. That comes before my children. BUT, I am passionate about my children....what they do, what they learn, who they are...I want to know them....inside and out. I guess that is why I homeschool. And, I am passionate about creating. I love to create. I love to create pages in a scrapbook. I love to create beautiful things with ribbon. You can ask my mom. I have loved to create things since I was a toddler. I used to love (and still do love) going to the craft shows and festivals with my parents as a child and watch the creators create....especially on a potter's wheel. Oh, how I love the image of God molding and forming us on His wheel into what we will become. I have uncles who are potters and I love their work. I had an uncle who created beautiful Christmas ornaments out of real chicken eggs and scrap paper. I think I have it in my blood. My dad creates beautiful wooden pens and bowls on his lathe. My mom creates beautiful dishcloths with the click click of her crochet needles. It's in my blood. I say all this to say, that I am thrilled to see a website that applauds, encourages and empowers this kind of creating....because in the beginning God Created.
